Sono cresciuta con il film d&#8217;animazione &#8220;La spada nella roccia&#8221;, che ha contribuito incredibilmente alla mia introduzione al tema. Negli anni ho visto diverse trasposizioni, un&#8217;altra a cui sono particolarmente affezionata \u00e8 la serie tv &#8220;Merlin&#8221;, anche se la trama non ricalca sempre in maniera fedele quella originale. Sono una grande fan di Marion Zimmer Bradley, che ha dato un notevole contributo a suo tempo e ho adorato adattamenti letterari pi\u00f9 moderni come Avalon High di Meg Cabot. Insomma, ormai di qualsiasi cosa ne esistono centinaia di versioni, trovare l&#8217;innovazione \u00e8 davvero difficile.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Cursed&#8221;, per\u00f2, \u00e8 la storia d&#8217;ispirazione arturiana che non si riesce ad immaginare a priori.<\/p>\n<p>La leggenda narra che colui che estrarr\u00e0 la spada dalla roccia sar\u00e0 il nuovo Re, che governer\u00e0 al fianco del potente Mago Merlino rendendo prospero il regno. Ma cosa \u00e8 accaduto prima? Ebbene, tutto ha inizio con la Dama del Lago, Nimue, considerata maledetta per l&#8217;attacco subito da uno spirito quando era bambina. Tutto crolla quando i Paladini Rossi sterminano il suo popolo e lei viene incaricata dalla madre in punto di morte di consegnare la Spada del Potere a Merlino, un leggendario e potente mago che sapr\u00e0 sicuramente come occuparsene. Al suo fianco nel viaggio ci sar\u00e0 un giovane Art\u00f9 che far\u00e0 di tutto affinch\u00e9 la missione venga completata positivamente.<\/p>\n<p>Il personaggio interessante di tutta la storia \u00e8 a mio parere quello di Merlino: un uomo tormentato e abituato ai vizi, che sembra molto pi\u00f9 umano e fragile rispetto al potere di cui \u00e8 investito.<br \/>Nimue \u00e8 una protagonista forte e coraggiosa, che nonostante voglia portare avanti una vendetta sanguinaria non perde di vista il vero obiettivo, che va oltre le sue personali intenzioni.<\/p>\n<p>La trama nel complesso ha un potenziale davvero notevole, e le immagini di Frank Miller sono, come in ogni sua opera, crude e d&#8217;impatto. Lo stile di Wheeler \u00e8 scorrevole, la lettura giunge alla fine senza intoppi.<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;ambientazione ricorda molto quella classica d&#8217;ispirazione, come se fosse un medioevo decadente e ricco di creature magiche e non, che si scontrano all&#8217;ultimo sangue per prevalere.
