Ogni suo romanzo \u00e8 unico e un&#8217;autentica novit\u00e0 anche per un palato di un lettore esperto, che si abbandona alla lettura sapendo che ne uscir\u00e0 assolutamente soddisfatto. &#8220;I truffatori&#8221; \u00e8 un noir in cui ogni nota suona melodica al momento giusto e in cui la velata ironia non \u00e8 inopportuna ma vivacizza la narrazione. Ogni personaggio \u00e8 costruito alla perfezione e di ognuno se ne apprezzano i pregi e i difetti senza che questi risultino fasulli o artificiosi. Thompson ha uno stile di scrittura che scorre via come un bicchiere d&#8217;acqua offrendo per\u00f2 una storia affatto banale e ricca di avvenimenti che si susseguono uno dopo l&#8217;altro. Quella creata per &#8220;I truffatori&#8221; \u00e8 una realt\u00e0 all&#8217;insegna del crimine, colma di malavitosi e malintenzionati che aumentano la tensione generale senza per\u00f2 sfociare eccessivamente e necessariamente nel drammatico. Anzi, in tutto questo il lettore \u00e8 sadicamente divertito nel vedere le interazioni tra Lily, Roy e Moira, in una continua lotta intestina volta al proprio personale tornaconto.
